Checking Ready for Rescue Status
At the top of the front of the AED, you should see OK, and immediately to the right 1-3 bars or square boxes that indicate the battery level. The Lifepak CR Plus performs automatic weekly self-tests to ensure readiness.
If a wrench, the word charge-pak, or attention appears in the status display window, proceed to check the expiry date on the pads and on the battery charge-pak.

Battery Expiry
The CHARGE-PAK battery charger is a replaceable, non-rechargeable battery cell that charges your defibrillator’s internal battery. The internal battery provides the power for your defibrillator.
To prevent damage to the internal battery, always keep the battery charger in place, including during storage or shipping. The date of expiry is the right of the hourglass as shown below
(eg 2025-07-27).
Pad Expiry
The QUIK-PAK electrode packet contains the pads that transfer the defibrillation energy to the victim. The packet should remain connected to the defibrillator and unopened until required for an SCA emergency. QUIK-PAK electrode pads are not reusable. When installed, these two accessories allow your defibrillator to stand by for use for approximately two years.
The electrode packet Use By date is programmed into the battery charger. When the date is reached, the CHARGE-PAK symbol appears in the readiness display, indicating both the battery charger and electrode packet need to be replaced. The expiration date of the pads is shown here below beside the hourglass symbol on the pads.
Order your Quik-Pak electrode packet and battery charger a few months in advance of their expiry date. This data can also be found in your Ready For Action AED data portal from Action First Aid which is used to do your monthly AED checks.
Serial Number
The serial number is to the left of the barcode on the back of the AED. The year of manufacture is to the right of the factory symbol at the top middle of this white sticker on the back label of this defibrillator.
