Owner and Program Director

Deb Hennig is the program developer and lead instructor trainer for Action First Aid Inc. Deb created Action First Aid because of her passion to educate people about health, wellness and disease prevention. As a former high school educator, Deb is very familiar with what it takes to create a dynamic curriculum, select great facilitators and lead a team to provide quality, interactive training. Sensitive to ever-changing improvements in this industry and strict adherence to provincial and international guidelines remains her #1 focus. Deb's leadership and passion for customer service has resulted in high employee retention and a very successful business. Prior to developing Action First Aid's WSIB approved training program, Deb was an instructor with Metro Toronto Ambulance, First Aid Program.

  

Education and Relevant Experience:

She has an honours degree in Physical & Health Education from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. She also took a year of Physical & Health Education from the University of British Columbia with a focus on Athletic Training, Injury Assessment and Taping. She has additional training from the Faculty of Education, University of Toronto in Adult Education, English as a Second Language and Classroom Management. She is a certified Personal Fitness Trainer with the American Council on Exercise. She has additional training in Wilderness First Aid and has successfully completed the British Columbia Sports Aid Certification in Taping, Injury Assessment & First Aid.

Deb Hennig is an Instructor Trainer with the Heart & Stroke Foundation and has been involved since 1998. Deb has seen many changes over the years and it is her job as an instructor trainer to pay close attention to the changes, so as to properly update other Heart & Stroke instructors and explain the rationale and science behind the changes. Deb is an active volunteer with the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and is the lead program developer for the "healthy kids" program, within Simcoe County.

 

Owner, Defibrillator Specialist and AED Field Support

Roger Hennig, graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Physical and Health Education. After university, Roger enjoyed a 5 year career in the Canadian Football League, playing with the Hamilton Tiger Cats for 4 years, followed by half a season with the B.C. Lions. As a former professional athlete and high school teacher, Roger's background in health & wellness, sports and education have driven his ambition to ensure great discipline and care are taken with all of Action First Aid's customers. Roger has been instrumental in helping Hydro One with the initialization and deployment of 700+ defibrillators across the province.

Roger has been a lead instructor for Action First Aid and has travelled across Canada delivering our First Aid, CPR & AED Programs. Roger's focus within the business is now on customer service and AED Sales and Support. Roger is our key liaison between our cardiologist, Dr. Brad Dibble who provides medical oversight for our defibrillator programs and in the event of an incident, provides support and event data review.

Education & Relevant Experience:

Roger received his Bachelor of Physical and Health Education from The University of British Columbia, and received his Bachelor of Education from The University of Toronto. Roger also completed the British Columbia Sports Aid Certification in Taping, Injury Assessment & First Aid. Roger is actively involved in his community and has been involved as a coach and trainer with the Barrie Colts Minor Hockey Association since 1993. Roger has also been a volunteer coach with the Barrie Soccer Club.

 

Account Manager, Hydro One

Judy has been with Action First Aid since the company started in Deb & Roger's home! Judy has been a large part of the growth that Action First Aid has experienced and is an integral part of the company's success. Loyalty, integrity and dedication are the foundation of Judy's solid work ethic. Judy is known for her great sense of humour and her exceptional customer service with both our client base and our loyal instructor base. Judy manages our contract with Hydro One across the province and has a proven track record for ensuring efficient, friendly and accurate services.

 

Training Coordinator & Lead Instructor-Trainer

Trish is our training coordinator and lead instructor-trainer. She has been with Action First Aid for 5 years in the capacity of instructor trainer, which allows her to appreciate the importance of organizing and facilitating quality training sessions. Trish provides support for all of our instructors, ensuring they are properly prepared for all programs and training sessions. She is responsible for the quality control of our programs and ongoing education for our instructor base.

Trish works directly with our clients to ensure all of their training needs will be met and relaying requests to our instructors. Trish's extensive knowledge of the Action First Aid program along with her organizational skills and excellent customer service will ensure a positive and fun training experience.

 

Instructor/AED Client Support Specialist

Barb is a graduate of the Paramedic Program and therefore a perfect asset to support all of our clients with respect to their AED program and training needs.  Barbs attention to detail and excellent customer service will ensure that your AED is always "ready for use".  Barb is also a very valuable instructor with Action First Aid and is known for her upbeat and engergic delivery!

 

Customer Account Manager, Manager – Bracebridge Training Centre

Jen first joined Action First Aid as an instructor, bringing her background as a firefighter and her love of working with people into her all of her courses.

Jen has been thrilled to join our team as one of our Account Managers, and truly enjoys the opportunity of working directly with our customers and clients each day. Her experience as an instructor and in the Health Care field has given her an understanding and appreciation of the importance of a highly professional training program that can engage the learner. Jen strongly believes in the importance of understanding the needs of her individual clients and the benefit of customizing each program to meet those specific needs.

As the Manager of our Bracebridge Training Centre, Jen is pleased to bring Action’s presence into the local community, offering our unique and engaging programs to the residents of Muskoka and surrounding area.

 

Office Administrator

Ruth has over 12 years experience of corporate sales support and administration. Ruth handles all incoming calls/requests for bookings and general inquiries. Ruth has excellent customer service skills and she is exceptionally well organized!

 

Nutritional Coach and Instructor

Kelsie Porter graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honors degree in Human Kinetics with a minor in Nutrition.

Kelsie has been instrumental in designing our Nutritional Seminars Series that are highly interactive and life-changing! Kelsie brings her positive energy and strong belief in nutrition into the classroom and leaves people inspired and excited to make a change.

Kelsie is also an active volunteer with the Heart & Stroke's "healthy hearts kids" program.

 

amyTraining & AED Account Manager

Amy is a great new addition to the Action First Aid Team! Prior to joining our team, Amy worked with the Heart & Stroke Foundation and from this experience she can offer advice and support for first aid and AED best practices within any workplace.

Amy is dedicated to assisting and onboarding our customers with Ready for Action, our custom AED & Training Tracking Tool. When working with Amy you can expect exceptional customer service and support whether on-site at your location, or at one of our training centres.

 

kimTraining & AED Account Manager

Kim is a passionate, well organized individual with over 20 years experience in administration, project management and strategic planning. Kim has several years experience working with Action First Aid servicing our clients for both their training and AED needs.

She entusiatically strives to customize solutions for each of our clients' unique needs in order to ensure safety in the workplace and at home.

 

timInstructor and AED & Training Specialist

Tim joined the Action First Aid team in 2016. Tim’s current and past work experiences in the Emergency Services field make him an asset to both the Action First Aid team and our client base. Tim is pleased to bring the energy and enthusiasm of the Action First Aid program to Nova Scotia. His presence in the local community is increasing the awareness and importance of First Aid, AED and CPR training in this community. Tim has been an ALS Provider Paramedic in Nova Scotia for over 25 years.

For the last 17 years, Tim has instructed hundreds of students in his role as a First Aid, WHMIS and CPR & AED instructor. His work has also expanded his resume to include the role as an Emergency Vehicle Driving Instructor. Tim brings a wealth of knowledge and he can offer advice and support for both First Aid and AED best practices for any workplace.
